About 40 CenturyLink customers were without internet for a month in northwest Omaha

WELL, SOME IN A NORTHWEST OMAHA NEIGHBORHOOD ARE SETTING THEIR INTERNET WILL GO OUT SOMETIMES FOR ABOUT A MONTH, CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS THERE HAVE BEEN WAITING. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S AARON HEGARTY TALKS WITH SOME FRUSTRATED CUSTOMERS TODAY. JOIN THE STUDIO. AARON, ROB, JULIE, YOU WILL REMEMBER THIS INVERSE FLASH FROM MAY 21st. THAT’S WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 40 HOUSES IN THE AREA AROUND 90 AND STRONG. I HAVE TALKED TO SIX OF THOSE CENTURYLINK CUSTOMERS, INCLUDING ONE WHO WORKS FROM HOME WHO HAS TO WORK AT HER DAUGHTER’S HOME FOR THREE WEEKS BEFORE SHIFT. IT’S MISERABLE. DORIS GRILLO IS 93 YEARS OLD. WHY CAN’T THEY FIX IT? I mean, THAT’S THEIR BUSINESS. WHAT IS THE QUESTION AT THIS POINT, I’M THINKING AFTER A MONTH, WHAT THE HELL? I DON’T GET OLD ANYMORE. I HAVE A BAD LEG AND I LIKE MY INTERNET SO I CAN SEARCH THINGS AND PLAY GAMES. SHE LOVES HER ONLINE SHOPPING. HOME HYGIENE. I CAN’T BUY ANY DOG FOOD BECAUSE DAWES CAN’T GO OUT. GINA. SHE HAS SOME FOOD. BUT IT’S NOT JUST FUN AND GAMES AND SHOPPING. IT’S FOR SAFETY. GOOGLE IS LIKE MY DO YOU KNOW WHAT GOOGLE IS? I CAN’T FIND THE WI-FI NETWORK. HER GOOGLE ASSISTANT AT HOME COULD BE THE RESCUE BY MAKING A PHONE CALL WITH JUST HER VOICE. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE SAFETY BECAUSE I FALLED. I HAD A FEW TIMES AND I WENT. HER SON HAS BEEN RECEIVING TEXTS DAILY SAYING IT WILL BE FIXED THE NEXT DAY MAY 29TH. MAY 31, JUST A FEW BLOCKS AWAY. Same problem. TOMORROW COMES AND NEVER RETURNS. AMANDA DEGUE WORKS FROM HOME PART TIME UNTIL I MAKE TIME FOR ME. SO IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT THAT I CAN WORK AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND THEY ONLY HAVE SO MUCH DATA FROM THEIR PHONES, SHE SAYS. IT’S NOT ALL BAD, ACCORDING TO THE KIDS. I REALLY GET OUT MORE. I FEEL LIKE, SO IT’S NOT LIKE TEN. Terrible. BUT BUT IT WILL BE WORSE TO HAVE. THEY JUST WANT TO KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED AND IF THEY NEED TO LOOK AT ANOTHER COMPANY. ONLY ONE TYPE OF COMMUNICATION. INSTEAD OF ONLY PROMISING US TOMORROW AND THEN TOMORROW COMES AND NEVER COMES BACK. CENTURYLINK TELLS ME THEY ARE STILL AWAITING THE EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO RESTORE FLOOD DAMAGED SERVICES, BUT THEY DON’T HAVE A TIMELINE FOR WHEN THAT MIGHT HAPPEN. STILL AFTER A FEW TIMES, IT WILL BE FIXED TOMORROW. THEY ARE GIVING CUSTOMERS FEEDBACK.

Some who live near 90th and Fort streets in Omaha are wondering if their internet will ever be restored. For about a month now, about 40 CenturyLink customers in the neighborhood have been waiting. It dates back to the flash floods on May 21st. A spokesperson for Lumen, of which CenturyLink is a part, told KETV that the company is waiting for the necessary equipment to restore services. There is no timeline for when this might come. A woman who works from home told KETV that she had to work at her daughter’s house for three weeks before switching internet providers. Ninety-three-year-old Doris Grillo said she wouldn’t be able to use her Google Home device to call a family member if she fell. It’s happened before, she said. Many people with the issue told KETV they’ve been getting messages every day saying the fix will come the next day, but it doesn’t. Amanda Dague said she wants “just some kind of communication instead of promising us tomorrow”.
